Klippie - A Rooftop Tent Experience

Klippie is our camper system that we have retired to De Kuile Campsite.  She has been on many adventures with us, from Cape Town to the Serengeti, visited incredible nature reserves, traversed countries on tar, dirt, gravel, and even floated on ferries across rivers and lakes.  

 

Klippie is a Klipspringer Roro Camper, designed and built in Somerset West.  It consists of a base on legs, which houses what one needs for camping, and the rooftop tent is integrated on top of the base.

The Accommodation:

• Maximum capacity 2 adults

• Double bed mattress in the rooftop tent

• Duvet, pillows, bed linen and bath towels provided

• Ladder up to the roof top tent

• Camping kitchenette with one-plate gas cooker, pots & pan, crockery, cutlery etc

• Small inverter to charge your phone, camera battery or laptop.

• Scullery in the campsite bathroom

• Shared bathroom with hot water outdoor showers, flush toilets

• Plunge pool in the campsite

• Free Wifi

Accessibility:

Access to the De Kuile Camp and Klippie is on a dirt farm track. 

We recommend that visitors use a raised vehicle such as an SUV or Bakkie, although a sedan vehicle with reasonable clearance and normal tyres and rims are able to drive the main farm roads.
